Appliance add-on to accelerate complex queries

IBM® DB2® Analytics Accelerator for z/OS® is an appliance add-on for IBM System z® that delivers very fast analytic query responses. The solution combines IBM Netezza® technology with IBM DB2 for z/OS transaction and query abilities to provide high performance analytics for a variety of workloads.

DB2 Analytics Accelerator for z/OS helps you:

Query data at high speeds—by combining System z and Netezza hardware-accelerated analytics to speed complex query processing.
Extend the capabilities of DB2 for z/OS—to support a cost-effective data warehousing and business intelligence solution.
Lower operating costs—by reducing System z disk requirements and offloading query workloads to a high-performance platform.

Query data at high speeds

Uses a Netezza asymmetric massively parallel processing (AMPP) engine and hardware accelerators for faster query processing, propagating data changes for high-speed use as they occur.
Decompresses and filters data for relevance before it is loaded into memory and given to the processor for aggregation.
Uses zone maps on data parcels to reduce input/output on compressed data.
Is optimized to provide fast response times for data warehouse or analytical workloads such as aggregations or large data scans.
Requires no additional tuning, indices or materialized query tables (MQTs).

Extend the capabilities of DB2 for z/OS

Interfaces with DB2 to enable embedded capabilities behind the application layer and provide transparency to applications that submit queries to DB2 for z/OS.
Lets users see only a DB2 for z/OS interface, so they can use existing skills and applications in a familiar environment.
Capitalizes on System z quality of service in terms of security, recoverability, virtualization and availability.
