IBM® Rational® Software Architect Extension for Communications Applications supports important communications standards and protocols. It extends both Rational Software Architect and Rational Software Architect for WebSphere® to provide advanced design and delivery tools for solutions including communications-enabled applications (CEAs) and integration of CEAs with operational and billing systems.

Rational Software Architect Extension for Communications Applications provides:

Call flow modeling—supports call flow modeling as well as the reverse engineering of call flow models from recorded network traffic.
SIP support—supports the design of Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) and converged servlet applications; the design of SIP call flows; the generation of SIP servlets to extend the Unified Modeling Language (UML) to Java® transformations; and the generation of SIP test sets for use with the open-source SIP testing tool.
SoaML support—provides a complete Service-oriented architecture Modeling Language (SoaML) model of the Parlay X specification. This allows you to use Rational Software Architect Extension for SOA and WebSphere to design and realize telecommunications web services based on Parlay X.
Sample model—provides a sample model based on the TM Forum Information Framework. Also offers guidance for using Rational Software Architect and the TM Forum Framework models to accelerate delivery of communications service provider solutions.
