IBM® WebSphere® Application Server Feature Pack for XML provides developers with key XML technology to support XML data in WebSphere applications. It can help you simplify development and improve developer productivity and innovation, as well as the reliability of applications that use XML data. It supports Java applications that connect to IBM WebSphere Application Server through an XML thin client.

WebSphere Application Server Feature Pack for XML helps you:

Improve developer productivity by implementing key Worldwide Web Consortium (W3C) XML standards XSLT 2.0, XPath 2.0, and XQuery 1.0.
Enhance the performance and reliability of applications that use XML data because of the advanced developer capabilities gained from key XML standards support.

Improve developer productivity

Enables developers to query large amounts of data stored in XML outside of a database with XQuery 1.0.
Provides enterprise class multi-threaded scalability and serviceability with IBM support.
Offers consistent execution (invocation) and data navigation APIs while allowing access to existing Java logic across XPath 2.0, XSLT 2.0, and XQuery 1.0.
Provides 40 samples of the new standards along with four samples that show these standards in typical web applications.

WebSphere Application Server V7 Feature Pack for XML is supported on the hardware and software configurations supported by WebSphere Application Server V7, except for IBM i5/OS; however, clients can run WebSphere Application Server V7 Feature Pack for XML on supported Linux and AIX versions on POWER6 based IBM i systems.
