IBM Lotus Symphony Installation Guide

The IBM® Lotus® Symphony™ installer enables you to quickly and easily install the productivity tools: IBM Lotus Symphony Documents, IBM Lotus Symphony Spreadsheets, and IBM Lotus Symphony Presentations. After you install the productivity tools, there is online user help available for each tool. View the complete installation guide for additional information.

Installing IBM Lotus Symphony RPM packages on SuSE Linux Enterprise Desktop 11 and RedHat Enterprise Linux 6 operating systems

  1. Log in as the root user.
  2. Locate the *.rpm file that you downloaded.
  3. Make sure that the standard C++ library libcstdc++.so.6, libgnomeprint, and libgnomeprint-ui packages are installed.
  4. Double-click the symphony-3.0.1.i586.rpm file to start the installation, and follow the instructions in the wizard.

Installing IBM Lotus Symphony DEB packages on Ubuntu 10.04 operating systems

  1. Log in to the Ubuntu system.
  2. Locate the *.deb file that you downloaded.
  3. Make sure that the standard C++ library libcstdc++.so.6, libgnomeprint and libgnomeprint-ui packages are installed.
  4. Double-click the symphony_3.0.1-1lucid1_i386.deb file to start the installation, and follow the instructions on the screen.

Installing IBM Lotus Symphony on Windows XP, Windows Vista, or Windows 7 operating systems

  1. Locate the *.exe file, such as IBM_Lotus_Symphony301_w32.exe, that you downloaded.
  2. Double-click the file to start the installation process.
  3. Follow the instructions to complete the installation. Click Finish when the wizard is complete.

Installing the IBM Lotus Symphony dictionaries on Windows XP, Windows Vista, or Windows 7 operating systems

  1. Locate the *.zip file, such as Lotus_Symphony301_dic_zh.zip, that you downloaded and extract it.
  2. Locate the setup.exe file under the folder that you extracted (for example, sym.dic.zh\setup.exe).
  3. Double-click the setup.exe file to start the installation process.
  4. Follow the instructions to complete the installation. Click Finish when the wizard is complete.

Installing IBM Lotus Symphony on Mac OS X 10.6 and Mac OS X 10.7 operating systems

  1. Double-click the dmg file to mount it.
  2. Double-click the IBM_Lotus_Symphony.mpkg file to start the installation.
  3. Follow the instructions to complete the installation. Click Finish when the installation process is complete. The installation location is: /Applications/Symphony.app.
