What about an editor of equations similar to WordPro's?
  • Drom Kapult said on Dec 17, 2007 10:59 PM:

I'd like to echo the first comment for the changelog. Having downloaded the previous beta there are a number of issues I'd like to check have been resolved. Like, for example:

    Functionality under compiz

Invasion of my .local/.config directory without asking

    Speed

    General stability

Merge the GUI with the new OOo 2.3.1, integrate it's further components (like database) and that's it!

My new beta-3 Lotus Symphony now shows up in DUTCH ?

It won't change to English again. This happened right after installation (in english): totally unexpected, totally unwanted and without asking for my permission.

Even while changing the preferences (I happen to read Dutch:-)) into English, Symphony stays and will stay in Dutch.

I feel lonely in my company now ...help!

    I second this request:

"Merge the GUI with the new OOo 2.3.1, [and] integrate its [other] components (like database) and that's it!"

Yes, please! Add the Math Equation editor, add a simple desktop RDBMS (like Access, Approach or something) a graphics editor (Like Visio, for ERDs!) and a Publication app, and you've got it. I know, lots of work, but since some of these apps are already in OO.o, just without IBM's superior GUIs, it shouldn't be that awfuly difficult.

    Thanks!

Still waiting on an Equation Editor which is essential for academic use. One similar to Word Pro would be excellent. Are there plans to include such a feature soon?

The fact that every module is orange is more than annoying the least say! Even the color Orange makes me feel insane. Why can't u guys get more suiting colors like, hmm BLUE??? And I really believe that color coding every module (word should be blue, spreadsheets green and power point aahhh - violate?

In word/spreadsheet, the fact that the text properties are not up on the menu bar, but on the right side is frustrating. Can you guys just bring them right next to the cut and paste icons?
  • FRANCESCO said on Dec 26, 2007 12:58 PM:

VORREI PROVARE IL NUOVO PRODOTTO E SONO SICURO DI TROVARLO OTTIMO COME LE VERSIONI PRECEDENTI.

    GRAZIE
  • michael said on Dec 27, 2007 3:55 PM:

I like the side bar for menu options better than MS ribbon on top. My only recommendation is that Symphony remember what options I have turned on. For example, in spreadsheet, if I click in the formula bar, then go back to a cell the menu changes back to the default. Not good.

Also, your help system needs to be written in good English. You won't get corporate buy-in with poor English language usage in Help files.

I am working with the quite old Organiser 5 and could not find a more recent version. Is there any ( or a plan to provide one in future??)
  • Boris said on Jun 9, 2008 6:23 PM:

I agree with some previous posts that equation editor is pretty important for this kind of software. It's "equation editor" far from perfect. I like this "tabbed" interface very much, and it is much more intuitive than the newest MS Office...

My 10 year old Organizer is still a better PIM than Outlook 2007, which I have to use for mail. I would love to get a new version of Organizer, & cannot figure out why they don't "open it up!"

I am another Lotus SmartSuite satisfied customer, but I switched to a Mac two years ago. I REALLY miss using SmartSuite, especially Organizer!! I have spent countless hours searching the Internet and Apple's app store looking for a similar organizer or planner, and there just doesn't seem to be one out there. If there is a Mac release for Organizer, I will purchase it in a heartbeat!! PLEASE make a Mac version for Lotus!!! I would bet thousands of Mac users would buy it.
