Do you use templates?

Jenn Giardino, User Experience Design Lead for Lotus Symphony  |  Oct 28, 2008 5:15 PM
Profile image for Jenn Giardino The Lotus Symphony User Experience team is starting to analyze which types of templates to include in Lotus Symphony. Please let us know if there are specific types of templates that you use on a regular basis, or if there are templates you would use if available. We are looking for templates for any of the editors in Symphony, especially documents and spreadsheets.

The templates we provide will be guided by your suggestions, so please be as specific as possible.

Thanks!

I have been looking for high quality business card templates which can provide the possibility to add images. Most have static images which cannot be changed or no image at all. Also, it would be nice to complete one card and have the others completed automatically. Please. Thanks.

It would be interesting to have templates to generate brochures similar to the ones used by Lotus to present their products. For instance, ftp://ftp.software.ibm.com/software/lotus/lotusweb/product/domino/ND-product-sheet.pdf

I would like to see something different... Templates for home users. This should really meet the needs of home users. Manage your budget, calculate Loans...

In addition it would be cool to have Templates which could manage a small business or a club, so you can easily plan a budget, manage members, customers, a balance sheet.

That would differentiate Symphony from other office suites.

Maybe integrate what was already made for the Lotus R5 Private Edition which was published in Germany.

It would really be great if for private use together with Symphony a Lotus Notes 8.5 light would be available - without all the stuff only companies need, but with all the stuff why we like Notes.

    A Spreadsheet time sheet template.

Especially if it had the facility to calculate hours worked across dates. i.e. Start at 7pm on 1-Jan-2009 and take a break at 1am on 2-Jan-2009 should be able to work out that you have worked 6 hours.

This should be able to be done without entering the date every time you need to enter a time of start or finish.

Also, show the hours worked in hh:mm AND in decimal.

Templates for Business Cards and popular address labels. I understand you're probably talking about document templates, but these templates are sorely missing.... if you don't provide the specific templates, how about a tool to create your own using the numbers supplied by the label makers... the height, width, distance left, right, etc.

Play Sound & Movie template for presentations.

This template would be very nice especially for training and marketing events.

Sound should be played invisible by clicking on a button.

Movie should be played in a frame on page.

The ready to play movie frame should be resizable and could be moved in a page.

Thank you for asking our request.

The templates in Lotus Word Pro would be a good place to start. Many people are switching from Word Pro and we miss the SmartMasters, especially the ones we created ourselves. How about a converter? I started with the original Lotus Symphony. Keep up the good work.

Desperately need ENVELOPE(s) template. Without this, Symphony is basically useless to the average office person who sends out a lot of snail-mail (like me). I really can't believe that envelopes weren't included originally (or had been added by now). When will they I wonder?

  • Jen said on Apr 29, 2009 1:27 PM:

Same as ones available in WordPro templates. I'm using Microsoft Works right now because the labels aren't available in Symphony. But WordPro was MUCH easier to work with.

Also, SUPPORT VISTA! I miss WordPro

Often we forget the little guy, the SMB, in our discussions of the comings and goings of the Internet marketing industry. Sure there are times like this when a report surfaces talking about their issues and concerns but, for the most part, we like to talk about big brands and how they do the Internet marketing thing well or not so well.

Labels and business cards with the Avery equivalents as we had with WordPro!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm really desperate here. I'm out of business cards, need to make new ones, have perfectly good decorated stock and am finding it really difficult to use the two-column method to get cards lined up. I have read that Win7 and Avery software don't play well together so I'm counting on you to fix this. PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    The Avery templates are useful (e.g, 5160, 8160 -- 1" x 2 5/8").

No wonder my daughter doesn't use her IBM laptop. Fired up her computer to print return address labels for Xmas cards to find out there aren't any label templates. I did a help search in Symphony...very impressed with all of the esoteric topics. Not very useful for the average student or household.

I would like an investments template that will allow me to list different stocks (ie securities), number of shares purchased, cost of each share, and importantly, current value of each investment based on the current price on the market as the user enters that cost into the sheet. In addition, the template would take the historical list of prices and present that history as a graph.

    Thanks
