Still problematic I think. I eventually just get a 500 http error.

    Anyone got a mirror/torrent?
  • User said on May 30, 2008 2:02 PM:

    Torrent is here:

    http://torrents.thepiratebay.org/4212772/IBM_Lotus_Symphony_1_US_.4212772.TPB.torrent

I believe this is ok for the Lotus team.
  • Guest said on May 30, 2008 3:22 PM:

    thanks for the torrent!

do you also have the developer-toolkit? it would be very interresting for me.

if not, i'll wait for a working ibm-download.

    regards

Is it just me or did Lotus drop Windows Server 2003 support? As I tried downloading the file but it says the installation is messed up so I'm wondering if something is wrong with the Lotus download or if it is support has been dropped.
  • MS Office compatible said on May 31, 2008 4:58 AM:

Any idea if it will be compatiable with number of rows in Office 2007 Excel format, i.e more than 65,000 rows?
  • Tom said on May 31, 2008 5:46 AM:

    Doesn't download at all.....

Mac OS X version anytime soon?
  • Chris Dowling said on Jun 1, 2008 11:54 AM:

I am downloading for over an hour on HS Broadband with a Dell XPS 420 PC, 4gb memory, with quad processors, and on Vista Home Premium. 10% has been downloaded from your server.

The server has resumed well over 100 times. Is this the best you can do?
  • Jim said on Jun 1, 2008 2:37 PM:

Interesting - 1.0 without a Mac version? As I expected. Good thing Openoffice 3 is available...

I'm done wasting my time with this site folks.

Too bad - they could have been a contender (tm)...

  • Pedro said on Jun 2, 2008 4:42 PM:

    Hmm..and a FreeBSD version too please ...
  • Devon said on Jun 2, 2008 6:04 PM:

I have been a huge supporter of Lotus symphony, since they started but the mac version seems to have turned out to be mere empty promises.
  • Dorin Titiriga said on Jun 3, 2008 1:30 AM:

To sad that the mac is not supported ... to sad
  • tanano said on Jun 3, 2008 3:15 AM:

Lotus Symphony is impossible to dowload. I am fed up with wasting my time with IBM. Folks, try StarOffice or OpenOffice instead.

Linux installer don't work in Ubuntu 7.10 =(
  • Chris said on Jun 3, 2008 4:53 AM:

Download STILL broken. Not too slick a launch....
  • Chris said on Jun 3, 2008 5:36 AM:

Actually, it DOES work , its just SLOOOOOOOOW
  • al said on Jun 3, 2008 6:41 AM:

Doesn't work for me: "Internal Server Error, The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request".
  • Juha said on Jun 3, 2008 7:59 AM:

I think the download site has been showing internal server error for couple of months..

Could somebody post a working link? I prefer not to download software from 3rd party sites.
  • Juha said on Jun 3, 2008 8:00 AM:

Apparently the download page works after all.. You just need to keep hitting refresh if you get internal server error.
  • al said on Jun 3, 2008 8:54 AM:

All right, but this is BIG BLUE! I didn't expect neither slow download nor server errors. I'm really let down.
  • Sean said on Jun 3, 2008 8:58 AM:

    Al,

it's free - come on what DO you expect - something for nothing...even Big Brue has a price...free=shoddy service get used to it...

I wonder when they will release v1.1 - months or years after OpenOrifice is at v99.99999
  • combo said on Jun 3, 2008 9:15 AM:

    Can't download :( what a disaster...
  • Confused said on Jun 3, 2008 12:28 PM:

    Interesting problem!

The Windows Download seems to work perfectly from the Computeractive Website: www.computeractive.co.uk
  • Albertv said on Jun 3, 2008 1:28 PM:

If IBM can't/won't be able to provide a simple download this does not auger well for any future relations. I'll pass.
  • Colgano said on Jun 3, 2008 1:30 PM:

    Download still borked!

Anyone with a direct (not-bitorrent) link for the linux install?
  • Sondre said on Jun 3, 2008 1:37 PM:

    The torrent works fine.
  • Dave Spaetzel said on Jun 3, 2008 3:10 PM:

Hey mac users! No C64 version either!
  • RV said on Jun 3, 2008 3:59 PM:

I downloaded and installed it without a problem. I used to have Beta 4 which I uninstalled before installing version 1. I made sure there was no leftover IBM Lotus folder on the Program Files directory (Win XP). Everytime I run the new version it reports as version Beta4. What gives? Anyone having the same issue?
  • Lar5 said on Jun 3, 2008 5:23 PM:

HTTP: Estimated time to download - 210 min.

    Torrent: 6 min. :-)
  • Roger Meachem said on Jun 3, 2008 5:35 PM:

All you cry-babies need to be thankful that there is an alternative to the 'Microsoft knows what is best for you' mentality. Yes, it's free; I downloaded it with no problem and it works MUCH faster than any of the Betas. I'm hooked !!!!
  • Nada said on Jun 3, 2008 6:18 PM:

What's that BLOATWARE good for? And it's OUTDATED. OpenOffice is approaching version 3, but this is still based on version 1?!? Come on, and that ugly look, almost as ugly as LOTUS NOTES
  • Jay said on Jun 4, 2008 1:34 AM:

Kudos... for job well done. It would push the bar of competition and excellence to another level. Keep it up.

Don't even download this v1.0 s/w if you think it is outdated compares to OO3.0.

The fact that you are blogging here with your opinions mean you do bother. Otherwise you wouldn't be visiting this site in the first place. Obviously some people just got too much time to spare.

Keep up the bashing and this shows you actually care.
  • ga6ri3l said on Jun 4, 2008 12:11 PM:

Tux : installer don't seem to work on ubuntu 8.04 either.
  • ga6ri3l said on Jun 4, 2008 2:29 PM:

Er my fault, it's only necessary to disable compiz during the installation.
  • Daniel said on Jun 4, 2008 7:06 PM:

Nice! Has anyone tried this on FreeBSD yet?!
  • Herman said on Jun 5, 2008 12:11 AM:

The download is OK for me.

    Thanks
  • Ter Meenal said on Jun 6, 2008 9:39 AM:

Seeing that Lotus Symphony for the Mac is looking more and more like fantasy ware (no status updates at all since May). I would recommend that anyone interested check out Open Office beta 3 for the Mac. It is now running native in Aqua.
  • pvmstg said on Jun 10, 2008 6:59 AM:

Ter, they said october so for now they have a deadline... will they release there... wait and see. But... openoffice 3 work great (neo also) have more feature so.... unless they release approach... no rush to have the ibm oo1 version since oo is now near v3.
  • Kevin said on Jun 11, 2008 10:53 AM:

I have downloaded the french version of Symphony (Windows XP) and have installed it successfully. It starts without a hitch but whenever I try to access an item in the help menu, a message appears, stating that a variable called fblinkuse hasn't been defined. I've checked the help files with a debugger and sure enough they contain incomplete javascript code. The above mentioned variable isn't defined anywhere, yet it is called each time the user tries to view an article in the help menu.

The french version of OpenOffice 2 doesn't exhibit this odd behaviour and I don't feel like installing the previous release (1.x) just to check it.

Why didn't somebody spot this at IBM ?
  • Kevin said on Jun 11, 2008 11:05 AM:

I know I should have posted my previous message in the support forum but, if IBM decided to mess up an outdated copy of OpenOffice, why bother ? For the record, I've completely deleted Lotus Symphony from my computer and have gone back to OpenOffice 2.4.
  • Guest said on Jun 13, 2008 12:54 AM:

    Hi Kevin,

Sorry for the inconvenience, the 'fblinkuse is undefined' message won't appear if you unchecked "Disable Script Debugging" option in Internet Explorer Advanced properties. SPR ZKCO7FK74C had been created for development team investigation.
  • Andrew Hurley said on Jun 19, 2008 7:53 AM:

After using Lotus Smartsuite especially Wordpro (an excellent application that we used all the time), I am very pleased to be able to again use an excellent piece of software from IBM. This software can open all Smartsuite files thankyou. I held off on MS Office and it was worth it. OO seemed to copy the old outdated (MS Office) dialog box method for changing properties, when you had to press OK for the changes to take effect. Symphony is building on is Smartsuite roots of having instant property changes via a panel on the right hand side. Well done IBM.
  • Stewart Hurry said on Jun 19, 2008 11:20 PM:

I used to like theold AmiPr0 macros, things like return to last insertion point, etc. New scripts were a snap, too., but Wordpro dropped a lot of that. I write a lot and use Wordpro for hours each day. Any chance Symphony will pick up on some of the early AmiPro usability?

Otherwise I'm happy with what I see here. After many years with Lotus, it is nice to see such a functonal and fast program. Kudos all round. I look forward to seeing where you go from here . . .

Installed Lotus symphony but it crashes when trying to run the software !
  • klausla said on Jun 23, 2008 1:46 PM:

it is a great product. but it is only the startup. i hope you will improve it constantly. but you lotus guys are really great. a great implementation and i hope i can implement it instead of office products. but you have to be continuous and stable.

    ....

i know all of yours products.

and i know that you can make it.

    keep on......

    Good!
  • jochen said on Jul 3, 2008 5:10 AM:

I feel it is still too heavy weighted, just like its big brother OpenOffice. IBM should put some effort to make it a little bit light and faster.

I am a longtime user of Lotus products. Welcome back. But what about Mac OsX?
  • Timothy said on Aug 7, 2008 7:24 AM:

Not a bad program.. but it's much, much slower to load than Open Office Vanilla... (P4 512MB RAM.)

However unlike Open Office I love the tabbed system and built in web browser. If I could I would like to suggest, or ask, that 'open brower' be an option in the program ..

It would be great if I could get all my office work, including research on the net, all done in one little clean virtual office desktop (that's how I see Symphony:)
  • GMP said on Aug 14, 2008 2:52 PM:

Amazing...there still isn't even a beta for Mac. Quite Sad, really. Get a clue IBM...the Mac market has increased both for home and corporate desktop use...and the Linux desktop market is still trying to get off the ground (Linux server market is a different story). Lotus Symphony is a Desktop Suite...hmmmm....
