Locations across CanadaCanada's largest software development facility
The IBM Canada Lab spans from east to west with locations varying in size. Together, we are IBM’s second-largest software development team – second only to the U.S.A – and the largest software development facility in Canada.
Each of our IBM Canada Lab locations are key members of IBM’s global Software Group division, which consists of a worldwide community of IBM software labs – all working together to drive innovation that matters on a global scale.
The core competencies of the Toronto Site team, which is based in Markham, are Information Management, WebSphere and Tivoli software across Database Servers, Warehousing and Business Intelligence, Master Data Management, WebSphere Customer Centre, Customer Data integration, WebSphere Commerce, application development tools, business process management and SOA enablement tools, Tivoli provisioning, and configuration technology. You can also find one of the IBM Canada Lab’s two Executive Briefing Centres, which provides a forum for our business partners, consultants and developers to meet our clients and hear about their objectives and business needs.
The Ottawa Site leads IBM's global Business Analytics efforts, uniting IBM's strengths in information integration, business consulting services, and content and data management, to unlock the business value of information. The Ottawa Site's rich heritage of industry-leading expertise in software engineering best practices, tools and services consistently delivers landmark IBM products – including the J9 Java virtual machine and class libraries, Rational model-driven development tools, Jazz application life cycle management, advanced Web application security scanning, and the Eclipse open source platform. The Ottawa Site is also home to an Executive Briefing Centre.
The London Site team delivers Maximo asset and service management software and consulting that helps clients optimize and transform their businesses by providing real-time information on assets, including their conditions and work processes. Formerly MRO Software, this team's breakthrough technology gained the attention of IBM, leading to its acquisition in 2006. Currently there are four main divisions at this site – Maximo Support, Maximo Quality Assurance, Operations and Development.
The team in Edmonton designs, develops and tests user interface products – primarily P8 eForms, SharePoint Web parts and ECM widgets. The 2006 acquisition of FileNet built upon IBM's Information on Demand strategy, which aims to provide the data clients need to efficiently improve business processes, respond to market needs and identify new business opportunities. This team's tools empower clients to customize the look and feel of workflow applications and get them into production in less time, at less cost and with minimal IT intervention.
The team in Vancouver works on IBM Content Collector, which helps customers go beyond “just archiving” to bring intelligence to information. Along with teams in China and Germany, this group delivers tools that selectively capture unmanaged content. Content collection and archiving is the process of discovering, collecting, enhancing, and managing all types of content regardless of creation type. These tools help clients automate the record life cycle and reduce administration burdens, while maintaining regulatory compliance. Additionally, the team works on IBM InfoSphere Guardium, a simple, robust solution for continuously monitoring access to high-value databases, assuring the integrity of trusted information in the data center and automating governance controls in heterogeneous enterprises. It detects or blocks malicious or unapproved activity by database administrators, developers and outsourced personnel, identifies end-user fraud with application-layer monitoring for multi-tiered environments (SAP, PeopleSoft, Cognos, etc.), and simplifies SOX, PCI-DSS, and Data Privacy processes.
The Victoria Site team produces the IBM Forms suite of software, which accelerates business process automation across industries, governments and other organizations. The Forms suite includes everything you need to develop, fill and process XML-based internet forms as well as integrate your forms-based processes with other applications. The suite offers both Web-delivered and rich-client variants of the Forms technology, providing deployment options and advantages for both web-facing and back-office user interface needs.
