Kronopol, part of the Swiss Krono Group, provides central IT, data center and administration services for SAP applications. Kronopol takes a pro-active, future-based approach to service delivery, always looking to be ready ahead of time for the next set of business demands. On this basis, the company chose to implement the SAP HANA solution on IBM System x3950 X5 workload optimized servers, delivering dramatic performance improvements for its SAP NetWeaver Business Warehouse.
Customer objectives included: Assist accurate business forecasting and planning by providing dramatically faster information and analysis. Enable deeper reporting on larger and more detailed data volumes, delivered within existing service levels and cost frameworks. Allow multiple reports to be run whenever users made the requests, returning data quickly to avoid delays in business processes. Improve workload throughput and system response times for SAP ERP and SAP NetWeaver Business Warehouse solutions
As part of the solution, Kronopol: Implemented SAP HANA solution for SAP NetWeaver Business Warehouse and integrated it with its SAP ERP application. Selected the IBM System x solution for SAP HANA based on IBM System x3950 X5 workload optimized servers featuring Intel Xeon E7 processors. SAP HANA runs on SUSE Linux Enterprise Server, with IBM Elastic Storage SAP ERP and SAP NetWeaver Business Warehouse application servers connected to IBM Storwize solutions. Backup, restore and archive services managed by Tivoli Systems Manager, with storage to IBM System Storage TS3310 tape. Engaged IBM Global Business Services to assist with system design, configuration and migration.
Enables in-depth analysis to be made available to executives at almost any time for business planning and analysis. Cut SAP NetWeaver Business Warehouse reporting on average by 10 times. Reduced database size by more than 55 percenT. Allows multiple reports to be run on larger data sets without affecting core SAP solution response times.
