Faced with a new breed of agile, online competitors, how do bricks-and-mortar retailers avoid being squeezed out of the market? Confronted with precisely this challenge, one major retailer enabled customer loyalty initiatives based on deep analytics.
With online retailers targeting its traditional customer base, a major bricks-and-mortar retailer wanted to safeguard market share by increasing customer loyalty. This meant understanding rapidly variations in customer preferences, and enabling product and pricing strategies to increase sales, profitability and margins.
The retailer engaged IBM Global Business Services to design, develop and implement a solution for accelerated analytics and reporting based on SAP HANA software, running on IBM System x 3950 and IBM System x3690 workload-optimized servers. The SAP HANA solution delivers actionable, up-to-the-minute insights into sales trends across the retail network.
Enables customers to find products at the best possible prices, generating repeat business and increasing loyalty. Helps the retailer to reduce the threat of online competitors in its sector. Supports on-the-fly adjustments to pricing strategies to drive same-day sales.
