A local authority in England, this organization serves hundreds of thousands of citizens with a range of services including social care, education, housing benefits, electoral administration and waste collection.
Serving a growing population with limited funds, an English local authority needed to continue to improve efficiency and service levels, and so set out to enable more flexible ways of working.
The council opted for a virtual desktop infrastructure solution based on thin-client software running on IBM® System x® servers, enabling access to desktop environments from anywhere, and on any device.
Drives greater employee productivity and efficiency by reducing the need for travel and cutting the time for desktop loading by up to 95 percent; avoids a USD15.5 million investment in new workstations.
