“ Smart TV completely changes the TV landscape with the fact that we now directly interact with the consumer, which also means that for us there are new opportunities that we can start to explore. And that’s clearly something we are heavily investing in. ”
Albert Mombarg, head of smart TV, TP Vision
Created in April 2012, TP Vision is a joint venture that is 70 percent owned by Hong Kong-based TPV Technology and 30 percent owned by Royal Philips Electronics. Based in Amsterdam, the company employs almost 3,300 people in several locations around the world.
TP Vision sought a cost-effective way to manage its smart TV service that would also enable it to capture and use customer information to further develop new services.
TP Vision uses a cloud-based environment to manage its smart TV network and to collect the vast amount of customer data provided by its smart TVs.
Lowers the cost per TV set by around 40 percent by putting the intelligence in the cloud instead of in the TV
