z/VSE 4.2.0:
During Fast Service Upgrade to z/VSE 4.2.0 VSE/POWER may terminate with message 1Q000 instead of intended message 1Q05I PAGEABLE AREA [nnnK] TOO SMALL... . This will happen when SIZE of VSE/POWER partition taken from previous system is too small and VSE/POWER can not load all of its phases.
If this this happens during step 2 of FSU, you should restart the old system and increase the VSE/POWER partition SIZE in FSU dialogue by specifying "OWN POWER PARAMETERS......... 1 (YES)" and then providing a larger SIZE (at least 1200K). After FSU or installation make sure that your ALLOC.PROC specifies SIZE=1400K (or more) for the VSE/POWER partition. For details of VSE/POWER partition usage see here. To correct message 1Q000 install DY46901. |

Under certain circumstances VSE/POWER may fail:
z/VSE 3.1 and VSE/ESA 2.7 customers having installed UD53000 or UD530011 respectively UD52999 or UD53009 should install UD53093 (DY46608) respectively UD53039 (DY46552) to avoid abnormal VSE/POWER termination. Also for z/VSE 3.1 UD53040 (DY46551) is recommended to solve a problem with POFFLOAD using the new Journal function. |

VSE/POWER POFFLOAD Performance Problems
Caused by 'incompatibility' between VSE/POWER tape format and new tape drives:
- 3490F empties cache for FSF used by POFFLOAD LOAD
Install DY46164/DY46245 for VSE/ESA 2.7/2.6
- 3590 syncronizes cache with tape for each WTM
Install microcode FC0520 on A60 controller + VSE/AF APAR DY45817 + AR cmd TAPE WTM=NOSYNC
Unfortunately controller A50 is to small to install FC0520
