The existing EWLM instrumentation in DB2 DDF, when enabled, may reduce DB2 throughput considerably. This throughput reduction was caused by the granularity of instrumentation at the network flow level and the additional pathlength in the WLM services.

With this support WLM provides a lightweight version of the EWLM Enclave services. This has limited functionality for environments such as DB2 DDF where the pathlength of the fully-functional WLM service is too long relative to the actual application pathlength.

This APAR (OA12005) is a prerequisite for DB2 APAR PK11801, which provides EWLM Support for DB2 DDF.
