Change the Language Environment default run-time options to be consistent with the requirements of your computing environment. See the "Recommended Setting" section in the  z/OS Language Environment Run-Time Migration Guide, GA22-7565 or  OS/390 Language Environment Migration Guide, SC28-1944 , for assistance in changing the run-time options to match your environment's needs.

Assess storage needs. Storage requirements may be larger for Language Environment than for your current environment. See "Determining DASD Storage Requirements" in  z/OS Language Environment Customization, SA22-7564 or  Language Environment for OS/390 Customization, SC28-1941 , for help in assessing your storage needs. Virtual storage requirements for placing library routines above or below the 16M line may also increase. See "Recommended Settings for C, C++, COBOL, Fortran, and PL/1" in  z/OS Language Environment Run-Time Migration Guide, GA22-7565 , or  OS/390 Language Environment Migration Guide, SC28-1944 , for recommended settings.

IBM recommends that you begin a transition to LanguageEnvironment by using a STEPLIB approach. Using STEPLIB allows youto phase in one region (for CICS(TM) or IMS(TM)), batch (group ofapplications), or user (TSO) at a time. Gradually as the majorityof your applications use Language Environment you can placeLanguage Environment into LNKLST.
