CICS 4.1.0 and Language Environment for MVS & VM 1.5, 1.6, 1.7, 1.8, and 1.9 Cross Product Dependency

This information APAR identifies CICS 4.1.0 and Language Environment for MVS & VM 1.5, 1.6, 1.7, and 1.8 maintenance requirements to satisfy cross-product dependencies, anchor support, and language interface support between the two products. Even though many of the PTFs described within this document contain SMP/E ++IF REQs., the co-dependencies may not be satisfied due to installation of CICS in a different zone than that of Language Environment. It would be necessary for the user to generate an SMP/E "CROSS-ZONE REQUISITE SYSMOD" report to see the interdependencies.

Select PTFs from this APAR, and either or both of the above APARs depending which mixture of CICS and Language Environment you are using.

Failure to apply the fixes recommended in this document may render certain functions as unusable and make diagnosis of failures difficult.

This list contains only the minimum maintenance necessary for CICS & Language Environment to work together. Your application's errors may be fixed by PTFs not on this list. It is best if you upgrade all Language Environment and CICS to current level.

Additional Symptoms

The following messages at CICS startup:

DFHAP1203 Language Environment/370 is being initialized.
DFHSR0601 Program interrupt occurred with system task III.

The failure is an ABEND0C4 in composite module CEEEV005, the Language Environment/MVS event handler. The ABEND0C4 actually occurs in IGZCPSU at offset +442. This usually indicates that modules are being picked up from an old COBOL library.

To determine if a COBOL II module is involved, search the dump for 'C24.' (if you can't find C24., try 'C23.'). If this eyecatcher is found, determine which library the related IGZ module is being loaded from and remove it from the LPA, linklist, RPL, STEPLIB, etc.
