'Getting Started Sub-capacity Pricing for z/OS IPLA software'
which offers entry pricing for customers with low usage on select IBM WebSphere programs and the applicable Subscription and Support annual maintenance charge, licensed by the International Program License Agreement (IPLA).

Today, IBM announced that the Sub-Capacity Reporting Tool (SCRT) Version 14 Release 1.0 is available for download. SCRT V14.1.0 features are listed on the web.
In order to take advantage of the new SCRT V14.1.0 support for System z New Application License Charges (zNALC) in an LPAR which does not use the ZNALxxxx naming convention customers must also have the BCP APAR OA20314 applied to their z/OS system prior to collecting SMF data. This APAR allows customers to use a "LICENSE=ZNALC" IPL parameter in place of the zNALC LPAR naming convention originally announced on 9 January.

Today, IBM announced a new pricing metric called 'System z New Application License Charges (zNALC)'
which offers a reduced price for the z/OS operating system on LPARs where you are running a qualified 'new workload' application such as Java language business applications running under WebSphere Application Server, Domino, SAP, PeopleSoft, and Siebel.

IBM also released a Statement of General Direction in this
announcement
stating: IBM intends to replace both the z/OS.e operating system and the NALC pricing metric with the zNALC pricing metric, which is available on both IBM z/Architecture high-end and midrange systems.
Also today, IBM announced a new pricing metric called 'Midrange Workload License Charges (MWLC)' for z/VSE Version 4
(announced today) when it is running on IBM System z9 Business Class (z9 BC) and the IBM System z9 Enterprise Class (z9 EC) servers. MWLC is a Sub-Capacity eligible pricing metric which applies to z/VSE V4 and 12 key VSE middleware programs such as CICS TS for VSE, DB2 Server for VSE, and ACF/VTAM for VSE.

Today, IBM announced Processor Value Unit licensing for IBM middleware software available in Passport Advantage. This announcement has no impact on traditional mainframe software running under mainframe operating systems (e.g., z/OS, z/VM or z/VSE). However, it will impact IBM middleware running under Linux on System z. Linux on System z middleware which was previously utilizing the per processor metric will now be priced according to Processor Value Unit Licensing.

Today, IBM announced (PDF, 85KB) software pricing terms and conditions for IBM System z9 Business Class. IBM is extending Entry Workload License Charge (EWLC) and Tiered Entry Workload License Charge (TWLC) pricing metrics to the IBM System z9 Business Class (z9 BC) servers. In addition, IBM announces zSeries Entry License Charge (zELC) pricing only for the smallest z9 BC server, z9 BC capacity setting A01.

Today, IBM announced a new pricing metric called 'Select Application License Charges (SALC)' which applies to MQSeries. SALC allows customers with Workload License Charges or Entry Workload License Charges to pay for MQSeries based upon the utilization of MQSeries, rather than based upon the size of the machine or the utilization of the LPAR where MQSeries runs. IBM also released a Statement of Direction in the z/OS Version1 Release 7 announcement stating: IBM plans to announce a version of New Application License Charges (NALC) intended to help improve the price performance of z/OS in certain new workload environments by delivering subcapacity pricing.

Today, IBM announced revised business rules for zSeries software. This announcement includes improvements for zSeries Sub-Capacity monthly license charge software and clarifications/corrections for zSeries IPLA products.
