System z10 exploitation support |
With APAR OA26078 for SA z/OS you can exploit new functionality provided by the hardware interface of SE/HMC Consoles Version 2.9.1 or later.
Based on new functions described in System z: Application Programming Interfaces (SB10-7030-11), the following Processor Operations common commands have been added or modified:
- You can use the new hardware command, TCDATA, to query the settings of a specific Temporary Capacity record, that is, Capacity Backup Unit (CBU) or On/Off Capacity on demand (OOCoD) of Series z10 hardware.
- The new hardware command, TCM, can be used to granularly manage Temporary Capacity resources of System z10 hardware, as follows:
- Add General Purpose Processors to increase either the Software Model or the speed of z10 hardware
- Add Special Purpose Processors (for example, IFL, Integrated Facility for Linux) of z10 hardware
- Remove temporary capacity processors of z10 hardware
- The Special Purpose Processor type 'IFA' (Integrated Facility for Applications) has been renamed 'AAP' (Application Assist Processor) for the PROFILE and ICNTL (Image Control) common commands.
- The CPC-related information in the reports that are generated by the CPCDATA and GETSINFO common commands for Series z10 hardware has been enhanced with new data that is related to temporary capacity management.
