z/OS Java API extensions and cookbook now available on alphaWorks for evaluation
A set of JZOS-related APIs and cookbook is available on alphaWorks for download. These APIs are intended for evaluation and non-production testing under the alphaWorks guidelines. The JZOS Cookbook 1.0.4 download contains an example inventory application.

This IBM Redbook is the second in a series of two about using Java stand-alone applications on z/OS. This book explains some topics in more depth and provides information about JZOS, a newly integrated function in the z/OS SDKs that can be used to run Java batch jobs and perform I/O. Guidance on updating Java SDKs and JREs for Daylight Saving Time (DST)
The Energy Policy Act of 2005 (Public Law 109-58) was passed by the United States Congress. This law changes the time-change dates for Daylight Savings Time in the United States. Beginning in 2007, DST will begin on the second Sunday in March and end on the first Sunday in November. To guide you through the changes you need to make see Guidance on updating Java SDKs and JREs for Daylight Saving Time (DST) changes. IBM Purchases Java Batch Technology for z/OS
The JZOS batch technology developed by Dovetailed Technologies, LLC, is now available from the alphaWorks web site. There are versions for use with SDK 1.3.1, SDK 1.4.2 and SDK 5 31-bit Java products.

System z Application Assist Processors (zAAP)
  Today IBM announced a lower cost alternative to general purpose zSeries processors. Customers can lower the cost of computing for z/OS Java-based applications by executing them transparently and without change on a zAAP. Running Java applications on a zAAP will depend on the SDK1.4 z/OS Java product in conjunction with IBM eServer zSeries 990 (z990) or zSeries 890 (z890) running z/OS 1.6. (April 7, 2004)

Zagrebacka Banka and the business partner Vestigo
  Major Croatian bank establishes a robust, open standards based e-business platform with IBM eServer zSeries servers running CICS Transaction Server and CICS Transaction Gateway, allowing it to introduce new offerings to its customers and partners more quickly. Part of this solution is the development (with the help of Vestigo and IBM Montpellier) of two Java based apps (cash management and card management) running under CICS.
