z/OS Licensed:
Beginning with z/OS V1R7 in September 2005,
z/OS licensed books have been declassified and are included on the z/OS V1R7 Collection, SK3T-4269, and the z/OS V1R7 and Software Products DVD Collection, SK3T-4271. The z/OS Licensed Product Library CD-ROM, LK3T-4307, is no longer being updated. The final edition of the z/OS Licensed Product Library was LK3T-4307-06, dated September 2004.
z/OS licensed books before z/OS V1R7 are included in the
z/OS Licensed Product Library, LK3T-4307, and are only separately orderable through the normal publications ordering channels by z/OS licensees. The collection includes both BookManager and PDF formats of the z/OS licensed books for two products--DFSMS and Communications Server. z/OS license holders can order additional copies.

Online unlicensed documentation (collections)
The online library is a variety of softcopy collections that are organized to meet specific information needs, usually for a specific IBM product or operating platform. In addition to books, some of the collections also contain online presentations, interactive demonstrations, and actual products.
Collections containing product libraries for a specific platform
These collections contain all the product libraries related to a specific IBM operating platform. They are useful to anyone who must administer or maintain an entire system or maintain a large online library for others to use.
- z/OS V1Rx, SK3T-4269
-
z/OS Software Products, SK3T-4270
-
z/OS V1Rx and Software Products DVD, SK3T-4271
-
z/OS V1R9 Information Center DVD Beta, SK5T-7089 (available October, 2007)
-
OS/390, SK2T-6700
-
z/VM, SK2T-2067
-
z/VM on DVD, SK5T-7054
-
z/VSE, SK2T-0060
-
z/VSE on DVD, SK3T-8348
For example, the z/OS V1Rx and Software Products DVD contains all the avalable libraries for z/OS elements and features, plus software products that run on z/OS, regardless of the type of product.
Collections containing product libraries for a specific function
These collections contain product libraries that are functionally related regardless of their operating system. They are useful to anyone who must specialize in a particular computing activity such as administering a network, developing applications, or maintaining a data base.
- Decision Support Systems, SK2T-0138
- Printing and Publishing, SK2T-2921
- Retail Store Solutions, SK2T-0331
- Transaction Processing and Data, SK2T-0730
For example, the Transaction Processing and Data Collection contains libraries for CICS, IMS, DB2, and other IBM transaction processing and database products.
Collections containing books for a specific subject or task
These collections contain individual books from a variety of product libraries and other sets of books that are related to specific subjects or tasks. They are useful to anyone who has a specific task to perform such as integrating products, performing security administration, or learning about system architecture.
For example, the z/OS Security Server RACF Collection contains books from any z/OS product library that includes RACF information, regardless of the type of product.

The relationship between the collections
Some product libraries appear in more than one collection. The GDDM library is in the z/OS, z/VSE, and z/VM platform collections because it is a product that runs on z/OS, z/VSE, and z/VM. It is also in the Transaction Processing and Data Collection because it is used by IBM transaction processing and database products.
Even though product libraries and individual books appear in more than one collection, all the collections that are issued at the same time contain libraries and books that are at the same level.
