What is z/OS Managed System Infrastructure?
By introducing z/OS Managed System Infrastructure (msys), z/OS has launched a major ease-of-manageability initiative. msys will, over time, enhance the z/OS platform with services and interfaces that make it much easier to manage.
The objective of msys is to make z/OS system programmers and operators significantly more productive, freeing this scarce and valuable personnel for other tasks. In addition, msys reduces the skill requirements associated with setup and operations.
The msys initiative ply contributes to positioning z/OS as a superior and manageable operating system.
Existing Products
- Since z/OS R1, msys for Setup has provided the initial framework to assist in setup tasks via a modern graphical user interface, particularly configuring system components such as ParallelSyspex and Base Sysplex setup.
In z/OS R4, msys for Setup features exploitation for the setup of USS, LE, ISPF, and TCP/IP products. This release also supports the use of IBM Directory Server 5.1as the management directory over z/OS LDAP with DB2.
For z/OS R1, R2 and R3 the functionality available in the R4 GA has been rolled back via the COEX FMID JMSI743.
