The October 3, 2000 IBM® announcement of z/OS included a statement of direction that no enhancements to the LANRES elements of OS/390® and of z/OS are planned beyond the functionality contained in z/OS R1, and that it is IBM's intent to withdraw LANRES from a future release of z/OS. In anticipation of LANRES's eventual withdrawal, this paper is intended to inform customers of various alternatives to the LANRES product functions that they currently use.
