Avocent Compatibility
IBM makes no representations or warranty regarding third-party products
or services, including those designated as ServerProven® or ClusterProven®.
Support for these third-party (non-IBM) products is provided by non-IBM
Manufacturers.
Avocent products are used to manage servers in IBM data
centers worldwide. Avocent products facilitate the management of these
heterogeneous environments. From IBM's validation test lab's, where both
IBM and non-IBM hardware is ServerProven, to the Global Partnership Solution
Centers, where developers port, enable, test, and market their applications,
Avocent products are front stage in the management of IBM servers.
Following is a list of IBM sites and the Avocent products
in use at those sites:
- Hursely UK- ViewPoint 32 and 64, iLink, DS1800, OutLook, AutoView
- Waltham MA- ViewPoint 32 and 64, iLink, OutLook
- Sydney AUS- ViewPoint 32 and 64, iLink, OutLook
- San Mateo CA- ViewPoint 32 and 64, iLink, OutLook
- RTP NC- AutoView, Outlook, ViewPoint, XP, ViewPoint
- Austin TX- OutLook
- Tucson AZ- ViewPoint, OutLook, AutoView

Overall, we have found the Avocent console switching
products to be compatible with IBM xSeries®
Servers. While we have not used every Avocent
console switch product with IBM xSeries
Servers, it is our opinion that IBM customers do
not need to be concerned about whether Avocent products are compatible with our
servers. While we cannot guarantee compatibility, we can say with high
confidence that our experience in using
Avocent products with IBM
xSeries Servers has been highly reliable and non-problematic.
