Tailoring Porting Infrastructure

Tailoring to Meet Customer Expectations

This tailoring topic is intended to help you customize your solution to meet customer expectations. You may choose for your application to have the same look and feel that other applications have on the targeted platform. This way, the application will be familiar to customers and users on the targeted platform.

Alternatively, you may want your application to have the same look and feel as it has on other platforms that it currently runs on. Consequently, those who are familiar with your software will be comfortable using it on the new platform.

Potential Areas of Tailoring

Through the platform-specific pages, the following topics will be discussed. These topics introduce "questions that should be asked" when a creating a new IBM Systems solution:

  • Installation
  • Operations
  • Security
  • Licensing
  • Packaging
  • Printing
  • Database access
  • User Interface
  • National language support/Internationalization (NLS/I18N)
  • Workload tuning
  • Problem management

Likely, you will not need to alter your solution for all these topics. None the less, you should consider each of them. You may choose to defer some changes and introduce them in a subsequent version on the targeted platform.
