Title: IBM AIX 5L V5.3 performance tools update
Abstract: In this course, you will come to understand the evolution of thread-level parallelism (TLP) on the POWER5 architecture. This discussion will include simultaneous multithreading (SMT), partitioning, Micro-Partitioning, and the usage of Processor Utilization Resource Register (PURR), as well as the new and updated AIX 5L V5.3 performance tools. A couple of new tuning and monitoring tools will be introduced during this discussion. All these technologies serve as a foundation for a better understanding of the flexibility you have in tuning AIX applications with AIX 5L V5.3 on the POWER5 architecture.
