Piloting DB2 UDB for iSeries using iSeries Navigator in V5R3

  Basic lab

Abstract for basic lab:
This lab explains the basic database tasks that a database administrator can perform.

This lab teaches you how to:

  • Configure a connection to the IBM eServer iSeries server from iSeries Navigator
  • Maintain your working schema list in iSeries Navigator
  • Create and delete a library or Structured Query Langauge (SQL) schema
  • Navigate the new V5R3 tree structure for database objects
  • Use Find and Positioner features and create databases function shortcuts
  • Delete a library or schema

Lab prerequisities

Before you begin this lab, be sure the following prerequisites are available:

  • An iSeries or AS/400e server with V5R3 (or later) with:
       -   5722-SS1 Option: Host Servers
       -   5722-SS1 Option: System Openness Includes
       -   5722-TC1 TCP/IP Connectivity Utilities
  • PC with iSeries Access Express V5R3M0 with the latest Service Pack applied
  • Windows HOSTS file containing I400WS and I400WS2 entries that point to your iSeries server's IP address
  • User profiles DBNAVXX and DBNAVXX_A created in the iSeries server
  • Use WRKRDBDIRE command to create a named database entry of Database 1 as your *LOCAL database. You can also use the existing *LOCAL entry of your machine throughout the lab exercises, but be sure you recognize it when we refer to our assumed named database of Database 1.

This lab explains how to do some programming on DB2 UDB for iSeries.

This lab teaches you how to:

  • Code and create as SQL Stored procedure.
  • Code and create an SQL Trigger
  • Code and create an User Defined Function and User Defined Table function.

Lab prerequisities

Before you begin this lab, be sure the following prerequisites are available:

  • An iSeries or AS/400e server with V5R3 (or later) with:
       -   5722-SS1 Option: Host Servers
       -   5722-SS1 Option: System Openness Includes
       -   5722-TC1 TCP/IP Connectivity Utilities
  • PC with iSeries Access Express V5R3M0 with the latest Service Pack applied
  • Windows HOSTS file containing I400WS and I400WS2 entries that point to your iSeries server's IP address
  • User profiles DBNAVXX and DBNAVXX_A created in the iSeries server
