Title: Introduction to the IBM System i family
Abstract: This online course teaches the reader about the important technical elements of the System i platform and the many leading-edge technologies that have been embraced by this family of systems. This new knowledge will provide the foundation necessary to successfully begin working with this platform. First, this course provides a quick background (from a marketing perspective) of the System i family. Next, the System i architecture is examined, both software and hardware. One of the most basic considerations for any systems environment is its user interfaces — therefore, you will learn how to interact with the System i platform. This course will also show you how data is stored on the System i family, including simple binary data, as well as data that is stored in the built-in relational database. Next, you will see how work is organized on the System i platform. At the end of this course, you will find a listing of sources for additional information about the System i family.
