Abstract: Web services are an emerging technology that provides a model for offering business or application services over the Internet as well within an organization. The value of DB2-specific Web services is that they let a developer provide direct access to their business data without any high-level-language programming. This paper will show the reader how implementing a DB2 Web service can be as simple as coding an SQL statement. This streamlined approached lets the developer concentrate on the SQL request (rather than worrying about Java application code to establish a database connection and the packaging and deployment of the Java). DB2 Web services let the developer retrieve and change data on an iSeries server as well as invokes stored procedures.
