Abstract: This course concerns the DB2 symmetric multiprocessing (SMP) feature of i5/OS, which runs on the System i and System p platforms. This course explains the need for installing the DB2 SMP feature for i5/OS. Another discussion relates to the i5/OS architecture and how it works cohesively with DB2 for i5/OS to deliver powerful parallelism for database access. You learn how to turn SMP on and off and how to manage the degree of SMP that a particular job invokes.
