IBM DB2 for i

Porting Information

In today's rapidly changing commercial environment, organizations demand a reliable database engine that easily adapts to emerging global and electronic trends, allowing reuse and synergy of existing IT assets, removing inhibitors on scalability, database design, data management and data access across legacy and emerging platforms and devices.

Why consider a switch to DB2?
Simple. DB2 for i has a premier position in the global database arena, delivering superior scalability, vendor support, price-performance and unmatched ease of use, giving your developers and integrators the advantage of robust database solutions that perform, adapt and respond to your e-business and SOA initiatives.

IBM's significant R&D effort in database innovation over the last three decades has produced over 210 database-specific patents. This commitment to database leadership continues to ensure that you can access leading-edge data management technology today, and in the future.

DB2 reliably delivers the freedom to implement a broad mix of application types with confidence, including: SOA, Business Intelligence, OLAP, Data Warehousing, ERP, CRM, SCM, High Speed OLTP, 24x7x365 High Availability, Mobile device support and more…

With the announcement of the new IBM Power System platform in April, IBM unified the integrated IBM System i with the IBM System p product line. The integrated operating system that has served AS/400, iSeries and System i clients for over two decades was also renamed from i5/OS to IBM i. As a result, IBM DB2 for i is now the official name of the integrated database replacing DB2 for i5/OS - or more simply known as DB2 for i.

  • This no-charge download automates many of the tasks of migrating objects from other databases to DB2 for i, including tables, views, indexes, triggers, and stored procedures. The graphical toolkit also enables the migration of data and provides the ability to refine the migration process. Some user intervention will be required in the migration process, so it's strongly recommended to read the porting guides before using the toolkit.
