Developing Distributed Applications with DB2 UDB for iSeries and Microsoft MTS

Prerequisites
To take advantage of the MTS support, you need OS/400 V5R1 or higher on the iSeries server and Client Access V5R1 ODBC driver on the Windows system. For maximum stability, you should install Service Pak 3 of the Client Access as well as the latest database group PTF (SF99501 for V5R1) on the iSeries available through IBM Service.
The DB2 UDB for iSeries support for MTS was successfully tested in the following Microsoft environments:
- Windows NT 4.0 with SP6, MTS 2.0 SP1, and MDAC 2.6
- Windows 2000 Professional with SP1, COM+, and MDAC 2.6
The business components of the sample application discussed in this paper were developed in Visual Basic V6 with SP4. The ADO requires the Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC).
