Software updates
CCA supported releases
The IBM 4764 PCI-X Cryptographic Coprocessor for System x™ currently has two supported releases of the IBM Common Cryptographic Architecture (CCA) software support program:
Release 3.60 for CCA Release 3.30 for CCA
These supported CCA releases can be installed on an IBM ServerProven™ server with the following operating systems:
- Microsoft® Windows® Server 2003, Standard Edition (32-bit) on Release 3.30.04 or later
- Microsoft Windows Server 2003, Standard Edition (32-bit) on Release 3.60 or later
- Novell SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10 (32-bit) for Release 3.30.04 or later
- Novell SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10 Service Pack 1 (32-bit) for Release 3.60 or later
- Novell SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11 Service Pack 1 (32-bit) for Release 3.60 or later
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.2, Server Edition (32-bit) for Release 3.30.05 or later
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.4, Server Edition (32-bit) for Release 3.60 or later
NOTE: You should always back up key storage prior to installing a new CCA release as the CCA software does not provide any automatic backup of this potentially critical file.
Special considerations for Windows Server 2003 installation
On a Windows Server 2003 platform, you should install the CCA Support Program software before you install the coprocessor(s). If a coprocessor is present when Windows Server 2003 is started, and information provided by the Support Program is not present, Windows Server 2003 will place entries into the registry that you will have to remove after you install the Support Program. To remove the problem entries, do:
- If not already installed, install the Support Program so that coprocessor-specific information will be available to Windows Server 2003.
- From the Windows Server 2003 Control Panel, open the Add/Remove Hardware folder and activate the Add/Remove Hardware Wizard to uninstall the Coprocessor entry in the hardware device list.
- If you have multiple coprocessors installed on the system, repeat the preceding step until all of the Coprocessor entries in the hardware device list are removed.
- Restart Windows Server 2003.
