For clients with current IBM hardware warranty and technical support agreements, IBM Tivoli Provisioning Manager for Operating System Deployment (TPMfOSD) is available for no additional cost. TPMfOSD enables network bootable registers, self checkout and kiosk devices to protect and restore themselves without on-site intervention.

Images of the retail devices are stored on a server, which can quickly restore the client’s data to a "known good state", improving availability and customer satisfaction. The TPMfOSD server also provides the capability to allow machines to boot from the network server to restore devices from catastrophic hard drive failure, to help increase protection for store operations.

Retailers are requiring low cost service models to decrease overall cost of ownership and to meet their internal profitability targets. TPMfOSD delivers software backup and repair solutions at no additional charge to the IBM maintenance costs.
