RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, NC - 13 January 2013: Toshiba Global Commerce Solutions headquartered in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina, today announced Together Commerce, a vision for retailer-consumer engagement. Toshiba’s goal is to help retailers adapt their strategies, stores and technology to embrace a new relationship with modern consumers where “The Store” participates in the consumer’s buying journey through many different channels -- whether on the web, in the store or on a mobile device. Today, we are pleased to announce two new solutions to our portfolio, TCxGravity and TCxWave, debuting at National Retail Federation 102nd Annual Convention in Booth #2405.

TCxGravity by Toshiba is the first retail store solution to give mobile consumers a true “omni-channel” experience, in and out of the store. The game-changing technology allows stores to interactively engage with consumers along the buying journey for a seamless brand experience. In the store, TCxGravity has full and flexible point-of-commerce features so consumers and sales staff are free to choose the path that best meets their transaction needs at the moment of purchase. TCxGravity establishes a stable, scalable platform that adapts easily as new technologies and touch-points arise, creating unmatched, sustainable business value. TCxGravity can be deployed as a stand-alone POS or in conjunction with IBM Sterling Order Management technology, which provides real-time, enterprise-wide commerce capabilities such as offering products and services based on a customer’s order history; managing an order taken from another channel; and offering alternatives to out-of-stock items and store merchandise pick-up.

“Our mission is to constantly enhance our customer-focused experience. We want to enable our customer to conveniently and seamlessly interact with us across our website, via mobile or in our stores,” said Ratnakar Lavu, senior vice president of Information Technology, Kohl’s Department Stores. “It is our belief that the innovative TCxGravity solution by Toshiba will provide a game-changing omni-channel experience that puts the customer first, in and out of the store.”

TCxWave by Toshiba is our new versatile solution, unlike any other POS, kiosk or self-service device the industry has ever seen. Its distinctive design, flexible uses, wide-screen format and gesture based touch screen affords investment protection for evolving retail space, ranging from specialty stores to food service. “As the world’s premier travel retailer, Hudson Group serves millions of travelers yearly as they brave some of the busiest airports in North America. Our goal is to provide what we call ‘Best Friend Service’ – the kind that ensures an accurate, friendly, and rapid completion of each and every transaction. Offering our customers and associates a system screen that’s as easy to use as a smart phone could enhance this service,” said Gary MacRae, SVP and Chief Information Officer, Hudson Group.”

“The pace of change in modern retail is impossible to ignore, and many retailers are feeling it most keenly at the store,” said Steven D. Ladwig, President & CEO, Toshiba Global Commerce Solutions, Inc. “I believe our ‘Together Commerce’ vision truly captures the changing face of global retail and the way retailers will redefine ‘The Store.’ We are committed to store technology that brings retailers and consumers together.” For more details on our vision, visit www.toshibagcs.com (link resides outside of ibm.com)
