IBM recognizes the potential adverse impacts associated with mining 3T/G in conflict regions of Central Africa. To neutralize these impacts, we expect our suppliers and, in turn, their suppliers to adhere to the Electronic Industry Citizenship Coalition (EICC) code of conduct and only source 3T/G from responsible conflict-free sources. We participate in industry initiatives to create and deploy supply chain verification processes (such as the Conflict Free Sourcing Initiative (CFSI), the Conflict Minerals Reporting Template and the Conflict-Free Smelter Program). These efforts are important elements of our work to affirm that 3T/G in our supply chain originates from conflict-free sources.
For more information, including additional details about IBM's due diligence process, please see our Conflict Minerals Report.
Parties may use the IBM Global Procurement Ombudsman office to confidentially communicate concerns to IBM regarding circumstances of mineral extraction, trade, handling, and export in a conflict-affected area that may not have been uncovered through conventional means of supply chain due diligence.
