NEW YORK, N.Y. - 21 Dec 2001: IBM today announced that Towers Perrin, one of the world's largest management consulting firms, has selected IBM's Quick Start e-procurement service to automate corporate purchasing operations on the Internet. The utility computing agreement with IBM will enable Towers Perrin to rapidly and securely link to an online global network of more than 30,000 suppliers, providing immediate procurement efficiencies without the need for upfront investments in skills and technology.
IBM's Quick Start e-procurement service combines the Ariba® Buyer™ software application with hosting management expertise from IBM Global Services to completely automate Towers Perrin's purchasing process from requisition to payment. Designed to get on-line buying systems up and running quickly, Quick Start can be tailored by IBM to match a company's unique buying patterns. Quick Start combines usage-based pricing with predictable monthly billing and is a core e-sourcing offering in IBM's portfolio of utility computing services.
