AUGUSTA, GA - 01 Apr 2002: When Masters Golf fans log onto www.masters.org, the official Web site of the 2002 Masters Tournament at Augusta National Golf Club, they'll be able to see expanded live streaming video coverage not available anywhere else and follow up-to-the-minute hole-by-hole scoring for their favorite players on the downloadable Masters Real-Time Leader Board. The Tournament will be held April 8 - 14. For the seventh consecutive year, IBM will assist the Masters Tournament in producing and hosting masters.org.
The site has been completely redesigned for 2002 to take advantage of 800 x 600 screen resolution, providing room for additional content and new features in a clean, easy-to-read format. Designed to "tell the story on every hole," masters.org offers visitors to the "virtual gallery" a range of flexible options for following the play from their desks, from home or on the road, including:
- Live@Augusta Streaming Video -- Expanded coverage includes action on the practice tee April 8 through April 14, and live coverage of holes 12 and 16 during practice rounds, April 8 through April 10. Visitors can also witness real-time the traditional Honorary Starters ceremony featuring Sam Snead and Augusta National and Masters Chairman Hootie Johnson at 8:00 a.m. (EDT), Thursday, April 11. Also available live is the presentation of the winner's Green Jacket at the Masters Putting Green ceremony on Sunday and the champion's interview in the Press Building that night.
- Wireless Access -- During the Tournament, fans who have Internet-enabled mobile phones and handheld devices that support the Wireless Application Protocol (WAP), and subscribe to WAP services, can access the Masters Leader Board, groupings and tee times, and the latest news by logging on to the official site's WAP address http://wap.masters.org.
- Masters TV & Radio -- Watch prerecorded Q&A interviews with the pros, e-mail your own questions to the host of Masters TV and enjoy behind-the-scenes features. Listen to Masters Radio coverage, hosted by CBS Radio on-air talent, available on the official Web site beginning Thursday, April 11 at 1:00 PM, through the end of the Tournament Sunday, April 14.
- Remote Camera Coverage -- Check out more still shots, via multiple Web cams placed throughout the golf course, for personalized views of Augusta National.
Masters e-patrons worldwide can get a head-start on Tournament coverage by accessing recent news and history through an archive of articles, photos, player interviews and results from every previous Masters. They can check out Augusta National landmarks, read personal insights about each hole from former Masters co-founder Bob Jones and current descriptions by Golf Digest architecture editor Ron Whitten. Beginning April 8, they can also take a virtual walking tour of the newly-expanded course.
