New IBM SOA Initiative Targets Business Partners, Software Vendors and Systems Integrators

Unveils Tools, Resources, Education to Help Ease SOA Deployments

LONDON - 28 Jun 2005: IBM today announced a new initiative to help IBM Business Partners, independent software vendors and systems integrators successfully implement Service-Oriented Architectures (SOA) with customers.

The initiative will enable participating Business Partners, Independent Software Vendors (ISVs), and Systems Integrators (SIs) to access IBM resources, assets and go-to-market support and is aimed at serving the needs of all partners implementing SOA, from neophytes to the most experienced SOA and Web services niche software providers. It includes a detailed compilation of no cost education, workshops, software and services complemented by SOA enablement engagements focused on SOA deployments with specific customers.

To help enable Business Partners for developing and deploying SOA solutions IBM, has new no cost SOA resources available through IBM's PartnerWorld Industry Networks (PWIN), which currently has thousands of companies developing solutions for IBM Software. These resources include business planning, technical enablement, co-marketing and selling resources aligned by industry and geography and are available for IBM Business Partners who adopt and endorse IBM's SOA strategy, and qualify through IBM's PWIN program.

"Third party software vendors and systems integrators can count on IBM best practices to help support their SOA customer engagements, and ultimately the greatest value proposition is for customers," said Steve Mills, senior vice president and group executive, IBM Software Group. "IBM is uniquely positioned to develop an SOA ecosystem to meet the needs of all Business Partners through its WebSphere® software, collective experience, resources and expertise from across the company."

New resources include an IBM SOA Partner Workshops and Architect Hotline, a no cost e-learning interactive three-day session for ISVs and systems integrators to develop the skills to successfully implement an SOA leveraging their applications and IBM software, including WebSphere®, Rational®, Tivoli®, DB2® and Lotus®.

Companies may also obtain free trial copies of WebSphere Business Integration Modeler, and Business Partners purchasing the "IBM PartnerWorld ValuePack" are eligible for free development licenses.
