Chicago, IL, SUPERCOMM 2005, - 07 Jun 2005: IBM today demonstrated another example of an IP Multimedia Subsystem at SUPERCOMM 2005 underscoring its commitment to continued investment in its IMS strategy and leveraging its business partner ecosystem.
The IMS solutions are developed in conjunction with business partners in the IBM PartnerWorld Telecommunications Industry Network, enabling telecommunications service providers to rapidly create, deploy and scale new revenue-generating services while reducing capital and operating expenses. More than 800 software providers and consultants are working with IBM to deliver solutions for next-generation telecommunications.
"Convergence in the telecommunications industry is making multimedia services available today regardless of network, device, and location, and there is mounting competition for customers," said Vanitha Narayanan, Director, IBM Telecommunications Solutions and Partner Management. "Differentiation is key to survival and winning. IBM's technology and services expertise along with our growing network of business partners, allows us to jointly deliver end-to-end IMS solutions to our clients, enabling them to maintain competitive advantage, increase revenue and reduce costs."
Helping to drive the evolution from existing networks to a converged network, IBM IMS solutions integrate pre-existing and evolving components in an open computing standards environment. IBM's IMS solutions enable network operators to deliver an enhanced user experience while gaining an added-value network and a service roadmap that can be easily controlled. More specifically, these solutions can help service providers:
- Combine interactive voice, data and video functions to easily deploy new applications such as consumer gaming, business messaging and Virtual Private Network (VPN) services
- Obtain economies of scale by using standard, reusable enablers that can be customized to segment-specific solutions
- Create customer segment-specific services using industry-standard tooling; services that might be enhanced to support specific marketing campaigns and rapidly developed to reflect changing market needs
Partner Solutions
AudioCodes, BayPackets, Brooktrout Technology, Leapstone Systems, NexTone Communications, Qualphone, Terraplay Systems and Ubiquity Software are among the 800 business partners working with IBM to deliver next-generation telecommunications solutions. These companies are demonstrating their solutions with IBM at SUPERCOMM 2005. The companies are part of IBM's PartnerWorld Telecommunications Industry Network. The IBM
PartnerWorld Industry Networks provide ISVs with comprehensive business insight, technical resources, networking opportunities, and marketing and sales support designed to help them reach more customers and close deals faster. Participants in the PartnerWorld Industry Networks can team with IBM to bring on demand solutions to market more easily and to ensure these solutions meet specific industry needs, reflecting how customers buy technology today.
- AudioCodes - AudioCodes Media Gateway technology is utilized to providing seamless VoIP connectivity between existing IP PBX, emerging mobility applications and the PSTN. In addition its Media server technology with its trans-coding functionality will demonstrate the elimination of network inter-working issues that prevent scalable deployment of real-time IP networks and enables the wide scale and rapid adoption of new IP-based services.
- BayPackets - BayPackets' Agility SIP Application Server supports IBM eServer BladeCenter™ systems and interoperates with IBM Rational Application Developer. Its Agility Parlay/OSA Gateway also interoperates with IBM WebSphere® Application Server and WebSphere Everyplace Server for Telecom, enabling network providers to create and deploy new services regardless of network type. BayPackets' IMS solution helps integrate telecom network capabilities with IT applications through a secure, measured and billable interface, enabling the cost-effectively delivery of innovative new services on telecommunications networks.
- Brooktrout Technology - Brooktrout Technology, Inc. is utilizing its SnowShore IP Media Server supporting IBM's IMS pre-paid gaming application. Brooktrout's SnowShore IP Media Server will serve as the Media Resource Function (MRF), as defined in the IMS architecture by the 3GPP/3GPP2, providing the critical media processing required for the scalable delivery of this innovative SIP-based, real-time, multimedia gaming service across global fixed and wireless carrier networks.
- Leapstone Systems - Leapstone is utilizing its CCE serviceBROKER to support IBM's demonstration of an open IMS service infrastructure that enables easy deployment of real-time multimedia services, such as IMS mobile pre-paid gaming. Leapstone's CCE serviceBROKER can provide a number of IMS functions within a solution, including subscriber service profile generation, Serving-Call Session Control (S-CSCF), Service Capability Interaction Manager (SCIM), and dynamic registration and utilization of subscriber service profiles.
- NexTone Communications- NexTone is debuting its new IMX (IP Multimedia Exchange) platform, designed to enable secure and seamless interconnectivity between Voice over IP (VoIP) networks and networks based on the IP Multimedia Subsystems (IMS) service delivery framework. NexTone is also demonstrating VoIP-to-IMS interconnectivity with the IMX as part of IBM's IMS solution.
- Qualphone - Qualphone IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) client and SDK is integrated with IBM Eclipse IDE for service creation, providing a comprehensive set of solutions for developing, deploying and managing the IMS client applications. The Qualphone Eclipse Device IMS Toolkit (QEDIT) allows users to write, compile, test and debug IMS client applications. The QEDIT enables the developers to programmatically manage resources, creating projects, code generation, build and detect code problems.
- Terraplay Systems - Terraplay MOVE is a complete solution for fixed and mobile connected gaming from simple turn-based games through to fast-paced, real-time 3D action games and is in service today with many fixed line, 2.5G and 3G mobile operators world-wide. Within IMS, Terraplay MOVE supports a class leading real-time mobile multiplayer experience with simultaneous voice. This is being demonstrated as a compelling mobile first-person-shooter game operating within IBM's IMS service plane.
- Ubiquity Software - The Ubiquity SIP Application Server allows for the rapid creation and deployment of new converged IP services for customers including IP Voice conferencing in fixed, mobile and broadband networks. Ubiquity enables service providers to develop their own applications internally as well as partner with leading System Integrators (SIs) to create the next generation of IP communications services. The integrated Service Delivery Platforms leverage IBM's Rational Unified Service Creation Environment, WebSphere Application Server, IBM DB2 and IBM BladeServer technologies together with Ubiquity's SIP Application Server platform.
IBM at SUPERCOMM 2005
IBM will be in booth #64045 at SUPERCOMM 2005 demonstrating three scenarios that use the IBM IMS solution architecture: an SIP wireless phone demonstrating next-generation VoIP service integration; a pre-paid gaming solution on IBM BladeCenter E (enterprise) and BladeCenter T (telco) and combination phones supporting mobile to Wi-Fi (fixed to mobile convergence).
