CHICAGO, IL & SOMERS, NY - 28 Apr 2005: SSA Global(TM) and IBM today announced that Schukra, a leading distributor of automotive lumbar solutions, has transformed its business operations with an automated supply chain solution. The joint SSA Global and IBM Solution enables Schukra to significantly streamline management of several core business processes such as invoicing, manufacturing scheduling, package tracking and billing.

Schukra develops seat support structures for some of the world's largest automotive and aviation companies. Deploying the joint on demand manufacturing solution from SSA Global and IBM has provided Schukra with an on demand view to customer order information to better manage incoming order requests from clients. Schukra's integrated solution performs a real-time exchange of product information across different applications and databases to coordinate all billing, scheduling and shipping activities associated with order fulfillment. The company's automated supply chain solution is based on SSA ERP and IBM DB2 and IBM WebSphere technologies.

Since implementing the SSA Global and IBM solution, Schukra has realized significant cost savings and operational efficiencies. For example, Schukra has reduced materials requirements planning (MRP) time by 90 percent and data recovery time by 30 percent. The company also has trimmed order planning activities from three hours to 20 minutes and cut cheque runs from one hour to five minutes. In addition, Schukra's web-based ERP solution also has enabled the company to maintain consistent levels of staffing and keep overhead facilities costs at a minimum.

Expanding on its nine-year relationship with SSA ERP solutions, Schukra, a subsidiary of Leggett & Platt Automotive Group based in Windsor, Ont. Canada, adopted the latest version of SSA BPCS 8.2 running on an IBM iSeries server platform, combined with an IBM DB2 database. As a result of the Web-based access provided by SSA Global and ease of technical transition to the iSeries platform, Schukra was able to complete the entire installation of SSA ERP at multiple sites across North America and Europe in less than three months.
