IBM to Optimize Data Acquisition and Delivery, Customer Service and Financial Processes for D&B

SOMERS, NY - 20 Oct 2004: IBM today announced an agreement with D&B, the leading provider of global business information, tools and insight, to enhance and manage certain business functions for D&B. This is a seven-year agreement with an expected value of approximately $180 million.

As a part of this initiative, D&B will outsource to IBM certain portions of its data acquisition and delivery, customer service and financial processes. Working with IBM, D&B expects to improve its DUNSRight(TM) quality process, improve the level of customer service provided to its customer's and reduce costs. IBM will help D&B achieve these improvements by leveraging delivery scale, global process expertise and advanced technologies.

"This agreement with D&B is indicative of a new wave of services relationships for IBM, that are focused on delivering business value in addition to cost efficiencies," said Maureen Power, vice president of Business Transformation Outsourcing, IBM Business Consulting Services. "We expect that this relationship will further strengthen the D&B brand by enhancing data quality and improving the customer's experience in doing business with D&B."

Today's announcement represents a major step forward in the application of advanced methodologies and technology solutions in the management of business-to-business relationships and dissemination of value-added business information. As such, this agreement further strengthens IBM's position as the leading consultant and service provider globally in this arena.
