ARMONK, NY - 01 Jun 2004: IBM today announced it has again ranked in the "Leaders" quadrant in Gartner, Inc.'s most recent report on North American storage services providers.
The explosion of information and data, escalating IT management costs, and a shortage of professionals skilled in the deployment of emerging technologies, are driving the need for more efficient server and storage infrastructures. Storage services are increasingly becoming an integral part of a company's IT strategy. IBM storage services enables customers and business partners in developing and deploying storage solutions to help create resilient infrastructures for better data management.
"The recognition by a leading analyst firm such as Gartner reinforces IBM's position as a premier global storage services provider," said Greg Goble, vice president, infrastructure services, IBM Global Services. "The combined power of IBM Storage, IBM Tivoli, IBM Research, and IBM Global Services allows us to deliver integrated storage solutions to customers for a competitive advantage."
Feedback from consultants and service providers were analyzed for the report, entitled "Magic Quadrant for Storage Services: 1H04"(1). According to Gartner, leaders are vendors who demonstrate significant experience and understand the dynamics needed to successfully deliver storage services.
The 11 companies represented in the Gartner Magic Quadrant range from hardware manufacturers and independent software vendors to large outsourcers. North American storage service providers are evaluated based on their ability to execute storage services and their visions for evolving them.
