IBM Receives Intel's Prestigious Supplier Continuous Quality Improvement Award

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, NC - 23 Mar 2004: IBM today was named a recipient of Intel Corporation's prestigious 2003 Supplier Continuous Quality Improvement (SCQI) award, Intel's highest honor for its suppliers, for outstanding commitment to quality and performance by suppliers that provide products and services deemed essential to Intel's success. IBM earned the award for supplying Intel with notebooks, desktops, workstations and servers. IBM and 15 additional SCQI award winners will be honored today at a celebration in Burlingame, Calif.

"What makes this award most meaningful is the fact that Intel, itself a leader in technology, chooses IBM ThinkPad notebooks, ThinkCentre desktops, ThinkVantage Technologies, eServer xSeries systems and IntelliStation workstations throughout its operations," said Steve Ward, IBM senior vice president and general manager, Personal Systems Group. "Intel's recognition -- for the third consecutive year -- of IBM's value as a partner in productivity, is proof positive of our laser focus on anticipating and meeting customer demands."

"Intel appreciates and recognizes the effort IBM has put forth this year to continuously improve quality and exceed our expectations," said Martin Menard, Intel director of IT Productivity, Collaboration & Flex Services. "IBM has demonstrated its commitment to Intel enablement with Centrino mobile technology and commitment to information technology results."

The SCQI awards are part of Intel's Supplier Continuous Quality Improvement process, which encourages Intel's key suppliers to strive for excellence and continuous improvement. To qualify for SCQI status, suppliers must score at least 95 percent on a report card that assesses performance and ability to meet cost, quality, availability, delivery, technology and responsiveness goals. Additional information about the SCQI program is available at http://supplier.intel.com/quality/.
