IBM WebSphere Business Integration Notches Key Customer Wins Across Multiple Industries

SOMERS, NY - 27 Feb 2004: IBM today announced new customers for its market-leading WebSphere Business Integration software that integrates and automates business applications and processes.

Recent customer wins for IBM -- the marketshare leader in integration software -- include: Wachovia, U.S. Express, Principal Residential Mortgage, ABN AMRO, Levi Strauss & Co., Bank of America, Sony Ericcson, Costco Wholesale, QVC Inc., People's Bank, TIAA-CREF, Michelin, Raytheon Company, South African Revenue Service, U.S. Bancorp, Campbell's Soup Company and Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company.

IBM's WebSphere Business Integration is the software layer that helps organizations integrate different areas of their business internally and with customers and partners. This helps organizations become more agile and responsive and accelerate time-to-market for new products and services.

IBM has also seen widespread success with several recently announced offerings designed, priced and marketed to help mid-market companies -- those between 100 and 1,000 employees -- integrate and manage disparate business processes. Analysts estimate that more than 60 percent of mid-market companies will use software technology to integrate their applications with those of their customers. Scripto-Tokai Corp., the Cucamonga, CA-based maker of pens, markers, lighters and clocks, is among the companies implementing an IBM WebSphere Business Integration Express for Item Synchronization solution.

IBM is continuing to help its customers comply with industry standards and regulations in the integration arena, by expanding its network of standards body support and participation. IBM WebSphere Business Integration Connect is now RosettaNet Ready "badged" and complies with RosettaNet standard RNIF V 2.0. RosettaNet (www.rosettanet.org) is a standards body focused on the exchange of business information between trading partners in the electronics space. Also, the Uniform Code Council, Inc. (UCC) Solution Partner Program, recently certified two WebSphere Business Integration software products that use the UCCnet™ GLOBALregistry® service to support customers in the retail and consumer products industries.
