SOMERS, NY - 18 Feb 2004: IBM and American Mortgage Network (AmNet), a wholesale mortgage bank serving mortgage brokers nationwide and a wholly owned subsidiary of American Residential Investment Trust, Inc., announced that AmNet has launched IBM's eServer iSeries server to add capacity and flexibility for its mortgage broker customers. The launch was completed seamlessly in the fourth quarter of 2003.

"With the iSeries platform, we have made a substantial investment to help increase efficiency, speed and reliability," said Randall Myres, Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer for AmNet. "We now have virtually unlimited scalability to handle more loan volume as we open new branches and expand existing locations. IBM and its business partner, Advanced Systems Group, provided expert support in putting together the configuration and equipment that we needed. We are very excited about the new capabilities we can now deliver to our customers and users on the iSeries platform."

Previously, AmNet was running a proprietary loan origination and servicing system with multiple servers. The servers had to communicate with each other, limiting capacity, creating processing bottlenecks, and complicating the IT environment. With the new iSeries platform, AmNet has gained a huge performance boost, while retaining all of the required functionality.

IBM's eServer iSeries product family is a highly integrated, flexible server that is utilized for IT consolidation and running mission critical e-business applications. It can help reduce total cost of ownership and deliver rapid ROI through management simplification, resource sharing and improved availability. iSeries servers can simultaneously run multiple operating systems (OS/400, Microsoft Windows and Linux) and applications all in one centrally managed server.

"A key feature of the iSeries server is the ability to add capacity on demand when needed," added Mr. Myres. "As a result, we can meet any unexpected increase and save costs by paying only when we need the extra capacity."

"AmNet gave us the opportunity to demonstrate the range and flexibility of the iSeries server," said Cecelia Marrese, vice president of marketing, IBM eServer iSeries. "IBM, along with Advanced Systems Group, one of our business partners, provided a unique business solution for AmNet, and now the company has simplified its infrastructure with one centrally managed server. Our teams worked together to make the changeover transparent to customers."
