IBM Helps San Francisco Fire Credit Union Achieve 99.8 Percent Efficiency

IBM eServers and Think Family of PCs Improve Member Services

SAN FRANCISCO - 30 Oct 2003: IBM today announced that San Francisco Fire Credit Union has improved the overall efficiency of its electronic transactions to 99.8 percent, in the past six months, through the implementation of IBM ThinkPad notebooks, ThinkCentre desktops and eServer xSeries and pSeries servers.

By deploying IBM technologies, SFFCU decreased the number of delayed transactions from approximately 4,500, already low by industry standards, to less than 200 per month, ensuring that ATM, point-of-sale and debit card purchases are executed promptly. Using IBM ThinkPad notebooks and ThinkCentre desktops to manage member accounts, and IBM eServer xSeries and pSeries servers to manage overall operations and infrastructure, SFFCU improved the security and efficiency of its member transactions.

"To remain competitive, we need to continually improve the services we provide our members," said Darren Herrmann, SFFCU's vice president, Information Systems. "IBM products allow us to maintain the almost instantaneous service that our members demand, all while lowering our lifecycle costs."

To reduce overall lifecycle costs, maximize system availability and simplify PC deployment, the credit union uses IBM Director, Director Agent and Asset ID, all IBM ThinkVantage Technologies.
