PARK RIDGE, N.J. & ARMONK, N.Y. - 24 Jul 2002: The Hertz Corporation and IBM today announced a six-year, $154 million extension of their computer services agreement to help Hertz improve performance of its information technology systems and reduce related costs.

As part of the contract, IBM will work with Hertz to enhance the quality of the services Hertz offers customers, including price quotes for car and equipment rentals. Also, IBM will continue to manage portions of Hertz's data center, and provide application development and management services for the Hertz Claims Management and Hertz Equipment Rental Corporation.

"The top priority at Hertz is providing our customers with the best car and equipment rental services available anywhere," said Claude Burgess, vice president, e-business and technology, Hertz Corporation. "IBM has the expertise and the proven track record to help us improve performance of our computer systems and achieve significant cost savings."

"This agreement takes the IBM - Hertz relationship beyond the provision of computer services," said Mark Levy, director, distribution sector, IBM Global Services. "We are working closely with Hertz to find new ways to use IBM's technology and industry know-how to strengthen the computer systems that support its business."
