IBM Number One in Worldwide Server Sales Revenue, Report Finds

IBM Grows Revenue Share in UNIX, Linux and Intel Servers

ARMONK, N.Y. - 16 Sep 2003: IBM today announced it is the number one server vendor in the world, according to just released Gartner Dataquest Servers Quarterly Statistics for the second quarter of 2003 as compared to the same quarter last year{1}. During this period IBM captured 30.7 percent revenue share worldwide. IBM gained 1.9 points of share year-to-year, which represents the largest revenue share gain among all major server vendors.

According to Gartner IBM was the only vendor to gain share in all key server segments in the second quarter of 2003 compared to the same quarter a year earlier.

In UNIX® servers, Gartner said that IBM gained 5 points of revenue share in the second quarter based on year to year revenue growth.

According to Gartner, IBM gained 1.1 points of worldwide Intel server revenue share in the second quarter as compared to the same quarter a year earlier.

In Linux on Intel servers, IBM gained 1.1 points of worldwide revenue share in the second quarter compared to the same quarter a year earlier and was the only major vendor to grow share
