Leading Market Research Firm Also Reports IBM Year-Over-Year Share Gains

ARMONK, NY - 05 Sep 2003: IBM achieved its third consecutive quarter of year-over-year growth in total worldwide disk storage systems factory revenue, according to IDC's Worldwide Disk Storage Systems Quarterly Tracker [1]. According to IDC, these results gave IBM the largest year-over-year factory revenue share gain of any vendor.

IDC reported double-digit year-over-year revenue growth for IBM compared to a decline for EMC.

"IBM's consistent growth can be attributed to our continued focus on delivering maximum value to our customers. We do this through optimizing price performance, offering low total cost of ownership, and continuing our focus on delivering complete, open solutions throughout our comprehensive storage portfolio," said Roland Hagan, Vice President, TotalStorage Enterprise Storage Servers at IBM.
