SOMERS, N.Y. - 09 Oct 2002: IBM today announced over 30 new TotalStorage Proven solutions with independent software vendors and hardware vendors. Since the program's launch in February, over 190 TotalStorage Proven solutions are now available to customers. Additionally, the Ready for Tivoli Storage Resource Manager validation program is now under development to provide support for independent software vendors (ISVs) integrating with IBM's newest storage software.
TotalStorage Proven and Ready for Tivoli programs are designed to address the interoperability issues for customers who are deploying multi-vendor storage networks. Through the programs, vendor's products are tested for interoperability with IBM storage technology to help customers more easily implement multi-vendor solutions. This is especially important for mid-size customers who often lack the time, money and skills to conduct intensive testing.
The TotalStorage Proven program has also received strong support from independent software and hardware vendors, who gain increased visibility, improved customer satisfaction and shorten sales cycles by participating in the program.
"Cisco endorses IBM's TotalStorage Proven Program as it offers tested solutions for customers," said Soni Jiandani, vice president of Marketing at the Cisco Storage Technology Group. "This solution approach is particularly important to the target customers for the Cisco SN 5428 Storage Router, small to medium-sized IT organizations who have neither the time nor the budget to test products on their own. Having completed the highest testing level in IBM's TotalStorage Proven Program shows that the Cisco SN 5428 can now be integrated into a wide variety of Cisco/IBM storage networking solutions."
"TotalStorage Proven has succeeded far beyond our expectations, with 190 solutions established over the last eight months," said Kathleen Smith, vice president of Storage Solutions for IBM's Storage Systems Group. "The success demonstrates IBM's commitment to promote interoperability with other technology providers, as we continue to move forward with industry standard initiatives."
The newest solutions being announced today strengthen the interoperability of IBM TotalStorage products, including the IBM TotalStorage Enterprise Storage Server (code named "Shark"), FAStT storage servers, tape storage and Network Attached Storage (NAS) with products from a number of industry leaders which can be found at www.ibm.com/totalstorage/proven, which also contains a complete list of solutions.
